Dodge 1500 HEMI

I'm usually not one for street racing, I generally thinks it's dumb, not safe, and lots of times the outcome is determined by which driver makes the dumber decisions. That said, there are some instance when I'll engage people, like the Chevy Blazer that has MUFFLERS on it the other day and reved its engine at me. Those people need to learn a lesson. Anyways, onto my short story:

Driving around, about 12-1am, clear roads, stop at a light. Dodge 1500 with 5.7L HEMI badge pulls next to me and revs the engine and gives me a...hmm...menacing look. We rip it off the light, I put 3 cars on him real quick and then got stuck at the next light (we're both there). We ran again (again, easily put distance on him), slowed for the next light which suddenly turned green (I was downshifting to slow down, 2nd gear at this point). The 1500 floors it, catches me (while I'm holding steady about 3200-3500 RPM), then I let mine go and put too many car lengths to count on him, then somehow got stuck at another light. We rolls down his window, laughing and smiling, and says to me this:

"Holy SHIT! Is that thing supercharged!? This f**king HEMI can't keep up man!"

I smiled, launched off the light, and left him behind haha.

And no everyone, my car is not supercharged nor is it anywhere near the speed of a supercharged Mustang lol.

I apologize for the length.

Nice. Those Dodge trucks with "Hemi" seem to think they're top dog all over the country. Even though the new hemi's don't really have hemispherical combustion chambers...lol.

Good kill bro.

Yes, yes I was lol, at least for 5 minutes or so when I toyed with the 1500! That's my general stance on street racing, but at least I can say I keep it "as safe as it can be." I'll just push my car hard in 2nd and somewhat through third, but I'm all brakes after that, or I'll let whoever I'm racing with go. I'm almost 70mph @ 5700 on the tach, and, while that's not safe at all, I'm appalled at what I've seen. A Durango, Eclipse, and Civic I've screwed with stick in my mind specifiaclly, and those three cars are the kinds of dipshits that cause bad things to happen. Brief explanation:

Durango: Off the light, worked through 3rd gear, then forth (barely, and with multiple car length on this guy), was FLYING, braked, but and the Durango kept accelerating past me, easily doing 115mph (or more).

Eclipse: Toyed with this chick, same story, worked through the gears, she kept going, and even after I backed off, I could tell she was still going at it.

Civic: Raced around off the light multiple times, my car was way faster, I put multiple bus lengths on the guy, and I watch him in my rear view mirror, I don't react (holding about 45mph which was the speedlimit), and comes blasting past me probably revving high into 4th gear, and keeps going. The guy has an actual half mile to build up all his speed and just went right past me. I wanted to just slap him across the face.

So I for one can at least say that if I do get into any street races, I'm one of those "reserved" street racers. Say what you will, count me as a kill, but at the end of the night I feel better about my life and haven't ruined anyone else's (as other irresponsible morons could have done).

If I do see you on the streets though...remember, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear is fair game haha.

It may be stupid, but I do agree... I'll race people up to the speed limit +5 mph, given the opportunity.

"Luckily" for me, it's RARE that anyone lines up next to me wanting to race. In 3 years of daily driving the Cobra, I've had 2 races, both of which were at over a year ago.

ha this really isn't even a race. my dad has a hemi ram and i raced my buddies 5.3 chevy z71 and by 60 or 70 he would be even with my rear bumper or closer...in other words the hemi is just a tad faster and i easily put several lengths on my buddies chevy by 40 or 50 with my stock 04 gt. even when i bog down i would already have a length on him by the time i shifted to second. good kill though. i still think my dads hemi is pretty quick. definitely not slow.
