96' camaro

a buddy of mine just bought a 1996 camaro with a 308 in it. he is already talking about racing me. i have a 1969 mustang with a 302 bored .40 over with 0 miles on it(still getting put together). after the break in period he said he wants to race. he is all stock and a auto tranny and i have a manual. what are your predictions? my car will be done in a couple weeks and when we race i am going to record it and post it on here.

I think you're gonna hear four answers, much as any speculative race thread:
1) You'll win.
2) He'll win
3) Driver's race
4) Shut up and just race the guy, already!

EDIT: and a '96 Camaro with a 308? I thought they were all LT1 cars. Why would he go from an LT1 to a 308?

i was just looking it up and they had 3.8 and 5.7 in them years. the guy he bought it from might have switched the motors because he was told it was the 308.

dont know where you got that, but the chevy 302 is a little powerhouse. a proper assembled 302 will turn 7k+, put down strong hp #'s, and do all of it without working up a sweat.

last time i checked he was driving a FORD MUSTANG that wieghs a good 300 more lbs then that camaro.......

a 69 fastback with a 302 is gonna be lucky it can get down the 1320 in 14.5 seconds......

283 and 302's are my favorite chevy engines I had one of each in my S10 at one time. Talk about runnin engines I tried like hell to blow that 283 up and it just wouldnt happen.. The only chevy engine I like more is a 292 L6 because those fuckers are imposible to blow.. If his 308 is a modded 283 or lightly built 302 then you are introuble get some spray your gonna need it..
