Getting Stiff

http://www.v8power.com/item--Kenny-B...-KBP29550.html

You guys think those sub frame connectors are worth the money or should I just go with the $100 and under straight tubed ones? I'm building a 800HP car so I definitely need the support.

ALSO does anybody know about these cages and how well the actually work/look?

If I was building an 800hp car, I would have "Extreme Duty" sub-frames installed.

Scroll down to the bottom, these are welded right into the frame of the car, providing a lot more rigidity than a piece of metal welded to the bottom.

Here is an example of what I'm talking about:

By the way, the "cage" in your second link, looks more like a 4-point roll bar.

I've decided to just go with sub frame connectors, and no roll cage...

Well, good luck getting an 800hp car onto a track without a rollbar or cage of some sort.

In-floors and at least a 10-point will stiffen your car up good, and you'll need it, especially if you like doing wheel-stands.

I don't plan on racing it at a track. maybe once to see what sort of ET it puts up (i can already tell ya it is probably going to be a mid 10 second car)

wheel stands seem out of my league... i'm sure i will have enough to handle with all that power, trying to get the front end off the ground will be the least of my concerns.

i am just shooting for a totally mean street car that is a pretty safe set up and doesn't really look or sound like it is a total beast, then that guy in his mid 40's driving his brand new Z06 will see me and say to himself, "i am going to teach this punk kid a lesson" and then he will be schooled himself

800hp is more than enough to get the front wheels off the ground.

Honestly, non-track car aside, I'd still get an 8-point roll bar. I know chassis-flex isn't as bad in the Fox4 platform, but you can't underestimate what 800hp can do to your body in terms of flex.

So anyways, enlighten us, how are you planning to get the 800hp out? Turbo?

To be honest, I haven't completely made up my mind about the exact set up. I thought I had it all figured out, (stroke current 351 to a 408, then add a vortech) but now i am fiddling with the thought of a turbo...I will have to do more pricing out to make up my decision, but right now I am going to go with a 393 supercharged and intercooled. should be one baaaaadddd ride!!!!!!

i am going to take advantage of my current set up for a while before i do all this, plus i need to save up the money. I have only been able to drive my car a few times. i bought it last winter and hardly was home to drive it (military), and now i am in germany so i can't drive it at all

but i know i for sure have to get used to 400+HP and RWD before i do the modding i have planned out...I am 19 and am not very experienced with high horse power RWD cars, I actually almost crashed it twice, once was on ice, but i was just trying to do too much and didn't take enough time to get to know the car. luckily i have excellent brakes otherwise i would have done some damage....

351 eh? I like your style.

If you're really strapped for cash, you can always do a junkyard turbo set-up. The only real thing you would need to buy is the piping (cheap) and header (not cheap!). Everything else can be salvaged.

Well, of course you'll need a computer too.

I'm not strapped for cash. I save a lot of my military pay check, I am just waiting till I save enough to do the whole shibang! I am estimating this is going to cost me around 12k!!!! But I only paid 8k for the car (a good deal i thought, with all the mods that it already had in it!) so 20k, and a ten second street car....not too bad in my opinion. especially when it cost my boss twice that much to accomplish that with his terminator, and he is maxed out and isn't making as much power as i will be making on a mild set up

if your gonna build an 800hp car, your seriously gonna need a roll bar.

especially if your running at the track, you run faster then 11 seconds, there gonna give you hell for not having a roll cage.

an 6-8 point would work best for your application

Seriously dude, even launching on the street will flex your car to hell and back.

It's good that you have the Fox4 chassis though, you really don't have to worry about it as much. Now, if you had a fox, the very first thing you would have to do would be install a roll-cage.
