Help me out a bit with my ride.

Alright, my suspension is completely stock and i'm looking to better my ride a bit and lower the car some too. But I honestly do not know SHIT about suspension, so I need some help / advice.

First off, what are coilovers, do they replace the springs? and are there and benefits of getting them and what will they doe for my ride?

Second, is it worth getting new shocks/struts? I mean is it worth dropping 500 on new shocks/struts if the stockers seem fit? Will the ride quality really improve that much with some bilstein shock/struts?

Third, what exactly do caster camber plates do?? I know I want some because I know they are good but why I do i need them, and why is a 4bolt setup so much better than a 3?

4th: This is what I think I want but I need help/advice because I have no idea what its going to to do to the ride of my car of it will even help.

H&R Super Sport Springs
Which says that it will lower the front 1.75 inches and Rear 1.6 inches.

Maximum Motorsport double adjustable Caster Camber plates
Why do I need to adjust these and what will it do?

With those 2 things i'm hoping to improve my car's handling, lower it a bit to fill in my wheel wells because i'll be running 17" wheels and improve the quality of the ride. I'll also be adding full length UPR subframe connectors and a eaton front strut tower brace.

I've just recently completed the 04' SVT supercharged cobra engine swap in my GT.

Any tips and answeres to all these questions would be a huge help! THANKS A BUNCH

:wink :wink

1st off, never buy coil overs, you will regret it, but they are basically springs with shocks in them and gas powered

2nd, some aftermarket ones from lakeland, griggs or maximum performance would be best and they all have suspension combos

3rd, caster cambers adjust the tilt of the wheels when you have lowering springs and/or new wheels to get a perfect alignment

just get a complete suspension kit that comes with everything, alot cheaper the buying them individually

which is why most race vehicles use coil over suspension, they must suck, right?

For street, which is what TurboLX is referring to, coilovers do suck. Unless you have a track car, it's not worth beating yourself to death with them. If you're lowering your car, invest in the c/c plates, it makes life easier at the alignment rack, and you'll know that those 245/45ZR17 or 275/40ZR17 tires won't wear out too fast

Get some eibach pro kit springs. they will improve the handling and lower the car about 1.2 in. you will like em. these are perfect. keep in mind if you go too far and get really cheap springs that lower the car too much. your ride quality is going to suck and you are going to be scraping everywhere.

You don't really need shocks unless you car is bouncing alot after bumps or if they are leaking fluid

You only need caster camber plates when you max out the stock camber plates and cant get your tires to stop wearing.
