lowering springs

ok, so i saw the other thread about the 2" drop. im looking into a drop like that too.
i had the stock 15 inch wheels and now 17" wheels which makes my car a shitload higher than it used to be. so my question is, since my car is now ~2" higher than what it was before, if i dropped it 2" it would put me close to how high off the ground it was before.
what i want to know is, since it will be around the stock height again, will stock or oe replacement shocks/struts be just fine. or am i totally thinking this wrong.

How much height you added will be determined by the size of your tire. When you add a larger size rim you usually do what is called 1 sizing. You go one size shorter tire. Either way, when you go from 15" to 17" rim, you are only adding 1" to the hight of the axle due to rim size. You are adding 1" above the axle and 1" below the axle. Be sure you have enough room to drop it 2" without rubbing. If you want to go back to stock height you could probably get away with a 1 to 1 1/2 inch drop. You can probably get away with stock shocks and struts, but I would recommend getting some made for a dropped suspension.
