how to remove stamped nuts on rear sway bar???

I needed to replace the bushings in my Maximum Motorsprts lower control arms...i couldnt find anything to use on the stamped nuts and bolts conecting the sway bar!? The nuts have rounded corners so no socket will fit them...they also have a sort of washer welded to the nuts so there is not enough shoulder to get an open end wrench on there...what do you use?

rivets? you have to drill out the rivets. then you can replace with normal nuts n bolts...

Try a loaf of bread....

Hmmmm.... The bolts can't be backed out and the nut left in place?

It's a 98 GT. nope the nuts turn when i crank on the bolt and i cant get anything on the nut to hold it.

No they're not rivets...they're actual bolts and what i believe the service manual calls "Stamped nuts".

But it is possible what is on here now might be different then what came stock because the lower control arms had been replaced before i got the car. I'll take a pic of them if what I’m describing doesn’t seem normal.

shave 2 sides of the stamped so you have 2 flat sides and that way you can get a wrench on it and you can replace with real bolts!
