Tie Rod Replacement


Would it be best off to change ball joints while im at it or is just doing tie rods fine


and i will need 2 correct or is there more than one on each side i don't know a thing about this

i would do the ball joints too, especially if the boots are ripped. as for the tie rods they only adjust your toe, and not caster/camber so with a toe scribe or (homemade verison) you should be able to get it back within spec.

well im saying with i had the car jacked up and went to shake the tire it made a squeeking sound... some people said just replace the tie rods?

If the ball joints are bad, replace them. If not, leave them alone. If you have extra cash and the car has alot of miles on it then it wouldn't hurt to replace them.

what are the showings of them bad? and the car has 55,xxx on it, what is all needed for tie rods being replaced

look for torn or severly dry rotted boots. if torn then they are water contaminated

jack the car up and remove the tie rod end from the spindle. remember to break the lock nut before removing though. now turn the wheel back and forth. if it still squeeks,you're gonna need ball joints
