Control arms..

Hello everybody,

Im was looking in to buy some new stuff for the stang.. i would like to have it more "stiff" when conering.. im othen driving around my friends rx8.. and when i get bakc in the stang i feel like im getting into i truck..
so what should i get.. i mean whats best for the money and for my use..i don't drive on any tracks, so it don't need to be extreame..

i was lookin on control arms.. but whats the difference on upper n lower.. ??
I don't know about these subframes.. looks like they should be welded..
Swaybars.
strut towers..
antiroll kits..

there are so may things.. but witch ones would be the best to go for.. where would i feel the biggest difference...

All i have now is eibach pro springs.. and its a vert..

the verts have sfc on it stock. they arent the best but are ok and get the job done. i dont know about the verts, but the coupes show little/no difference with the strut tower brace. there was a night and day differnce thru the corners when i installed control arms on my car. upgraded sway bars are a nice improvement, and if you are going to do control arms i would suggest doing uppers and lowers at the same time.

- Front and Rear Swap Bars (which would be part of your an antiroll kit)
- Adjustable Struts and Shocks (KYB or Koni)

I also have the Eibach Pro Kit spirngs, used with KYB adjustables. Sway bars and shocks/struts will make the night and day difference in he ride of the 'Stang. I have KYB shocks/struts, which are externally adjustable, and you can even feel the big difference front the adjustments you make on the fly.

I'm saving for some Coil-overs though, which I'll use the Maximum Motorsports A-arms. That should be a great setup, and the "true" A-arms from Maximum Motorsports shed weight from the car too.

I have heard this on many occasions from many different people and have yet to see any evidence of this being the case. Can you tell me where you are finding this info?

I have personally dismantled and cut apart (literally with recip. saw and torch) no fewer than 100 Mustangs. Fox bodies, Sn's,V6's, GT's, Cobras coupes, convertibles and once even a T top car (and once even a T top car, don't shoot me )you name it, and have never seen a set of sub frame connectors installed from the factory.

Unless, by chance, you are talking about the the cross member brace that came on the 87-04 convertibles, but that's not the same as sub frame connectors.

I'm not trying to be the asshole here, just trying to help cut down on misinformation anywhere I can.

Danish Mustang-Since you do have a convertible I would recommend some weld in sub frame connectors, the bolt in style are a complete waste of your time and money. When you do a little research on them and see a pic of them and how they attach you will see that they are flawed by design. The very thing that sub frame connectors are supposed to do, which is limit chassis flex, is the very thing that will tear your sub frames up worse once you install a set of these paper weights.I would personally look at a FULL LENGTH set like the ones Maximum Motorsports :: The Leader In Mustang Performance Suspension makes. They are very reasonably priced for what you get and if properly installed, you will wonder how you got along without them, especially in a convertible.I put a set in my 98 convertible and they worked so well I put a set in my 98 coupe too, night and day difference. They are very well built and come with instructions that anyone can follow that include a lot of close up photos to help you along. You would also get a lot better handling from a set of after market struts and shocks. There are way too many choices to try and cover all the bases, but a nice set of street versions from the manufacturer of your choice would make a big difference, especially if you are still using your stock (or stock style) units.
Strut tower braces are kind of take it or leave it.Anything you can put on our cars to help stop chassis flex during cornering is a big plus, but depending on what kind of mods you have under the hood, you may not be able to use one.I would say if you can find a stock one (94-95s) that someone is selling for a decent price go ahead and grab it,they are just as effective as the aftermarket ones, so save your money.

These are just a few ideas to get you started in the right direction, let us know how it's coming along once you decide what direction to take it.
