I think it needs to be lower, what do you guys think? Cut springs or buy lowering springs for the rear? The fronts are on a coil over that is adjustable, I've probably got another inch and a half or more I can lower in the front.

awesome build, i just started looking into these svo's more.

I think if you lowered the front that 1 or 1.5 inches it would make a huge difference

Sorry for my crappy attendance. I have a TON going on in life right now, but still have time for the SVO.

To answer your question JakeM, my own money in the car is less than 7k including purchase price. The previous owner gave me a book of receipts from the shop that had done all the work for him, they tallied up to around $9,800. The shop's hourly rates were pretty high, and he had them doing some pretty intense jobs like motor rebuilds, installing that tubular front end and SN95 brakes ect... I think if done at home with some carefull planning of where to buy parts it could have been done for less than half that. But it was his pocket book not mine.

Recently in the car, I've just installed some weld in subframe connectors, what a difference! I would say it handles just as good as my old 03 mach 1, maybe even a little better because it's so light. It really stays flat, very flat, on the corners. No body roll found yet. I've also gone ahead and dropped the front down about another 2" or less. It sits great in the front.

Now I have to get the lap top repaired, install the 65lb injectors and see how much boost I can push through a stock head/cam from 26 years ago! I'm also actively looking for a complete take out IRS from a Cobra to put in here. I know it can be done in a fox, just takes a little drilling/welding. I'm going to be selling the Greg Welds to pay for this conversion. Should be pretty awesome when I'm done with it. So if anyone knows someone selling an IRS send them my name!

I've got a new lap top and back to tuning. The car is now tuned and driving nicely at 16psi. I am going to try and squeeze 22psi from these factory injectors and get it on a dyno. If it can handle that much air. After that it's 65LB/hr injectors and high boost (28psi or above).

I've got a few leeds on a couple different IRS set ups. and another wanting to buy the rims. Hopefully we can all work out a deal.

This afternoon was a perfect drive until the very end, a plug wire deteriorated and shorted out. So I've got to get a new set of wires so I can continue tuning.

Cut out the old metal where the window glass used to pass through the door.

Then I tacked in (very slow and tedious...) This bit of sheet metal to fill the gap

Now I'm grinding down all the splatter and welds.

When it's all said and done, I plan to have the entire window frame closed in like this and painted.

It's taking a very long time because my grinder is a battery powered one, and so is the side cutter... so yesterday after the two batteries went dead while cutting, I had to hack saw it out the rest of the way, and then use an old ass metal file to knock down the little bumps and hills left from that. If it keeps up at this pace, and I work on it daily it will be next week before i finish...

and no trash talking my welds! I know it's fugly, but I'm still new at it. The sub frames I welded in were 1000x's easier because of how thick the metal was compared to this crap.

Final (hopefully) layer of body filler applied this afternoon. I've just shaved it a little bit waiting for it to cure completely. I'll hopefully be able to pain it tomorrow. I still need to make some pieces to fill in the gap at the rear view mirror and the back of the door where the window frame turns upward. I'm thinking about filling that gap with foam and shaving it down, then making a top coat of expoxy, or possibly fiberglass. Seems it will be a little easier that way instead of using metal, and it's not necessary for it to have any strength because it's not going to be used as an arm rest.

I didn't want them, and all the weight the glass, tracks, motors and electrical brought with them. It's going to have a bit of a rat rod theme. The doors have actually been empty for a really long time now, I just haven't done anthing to fill this gap util now.

Besides, it's providing a really nice arm rest for cruising!

I got my IRS today!!! Woot Woot!!! Came out of an '03 Cobra, complete with shocks springs brakes and lines even ABS parts I can sell!, I don't need anything other than the fitting to attach my brake lines to the IRS lines. It even came with a complete 2 1/2" flowmaster cat back that I can sell and try to recoup some money.

I've been doing some cleaning up in the engine bay as well. I painted the intake upper and lower, and throttle body and all the hardware that goes with it. Installed the 65lb/hr injectors and painted the fuel rails. I hope to get it idling and running soon. Waiting for new throttlebody gasket and trying to figure out the paint shceme I want for the valve cover. Got a new valve cover gasket too hopefully won't spill all that oil on my nice new painted intake! I probably won't install the IRS for a month or so with a lot of other things going on outside the garage right now.

Here's some shots of the intake and valve cover. It's going to be a slow process, but I'll eventually remove the entire engine and clean up the engine bay. I didn't want to do that yet so this little bit will have to do. I'm not happy with the valve cover, I wanted to sand down and repaint the ridges and lettering with the same blue I used on the intake. Got impatient and wanted to drive again!

hey whats up man i got my 84 svo back in march of 2011 and drove it for a month then tore it down to regasket the motor; well i found out my turbo on the exhaust side has a big crack in it, so i was just gonna replace the turbo but i figured what the hell imma build it. Right now ive done a few things to it and its almost done just a few questions on some parts or ways to do thing. ive installed from stinger: FMIC, center-mount header,a/r 60 trim turbo from airesearch, 38mm wastegate, brown top injectors off of a turbocoupe, downpipe, and a bunch of gauages:wideband, boost, water, oil pres.,tach so all i have to do is get a fuel pump which is gonna be a walboro 255 im still wondering about what ecu options i can go with i need the rest of my exhaust, coolant lines,BOV,and a slimfan. How can i delete the stock Vam or can I? I know i just wrote a book but ive look at your thread u seem like you know more than i do this is my first svo dont really know too much about them but im learning as i go along the safe way of course if u could help me out that would be awsome i deleted egr as well

I've answered in your build thread about the ECU. Just a note here, the factory ECU from an 84 svo will not run those injectors correctly and you will have major issues trying to do so. It won't work.

Look into Stinger's PiMP mega squirt set up. If you can't afford it or don't want to wait for the long line to get one (I understand it's getting faster though) then get either the factory spec injectors for an 84 SVO and use the factory ECU and VAM, or get the factory spec ECU from whatever year Turbocoupe you got those injectors from and get the LARGER VAM for that ecu. You can't successfully run the incorrect ECU/VAM/injector combination. They all must be matched with correct year.
