Optimum Timing?


my fuel selector switch is stuck on the regular position in my 84 SVO is there a way i can set my car to the premium timing setting without fixing the fuel selector switch? i dont plan on running anything but premium in the car anyway.

You can unplug the spark advance spout and adjust the distributor to the timing you want, around 12* will be fine, and lock the distributor back down then plug the spout back in. That will give you slightly advanced timing (the same as the difference in fuel selector switch settings) without being too harsh on your head gasket.

I think if you remove the boost solenoid as well it will override the switch. Replace the assy. with a boost control valve.
