What are the optimal shift points for a svo?

Most factory head and cam SVO's stop making usefull power before 6k RPM. That might not be the optimal time to shift though, depending on wheel size, rear end gears, auto or manual trans, and the sport you are competing in as in drag or road race or street race.

My stock 86 peaks at 4400 rpm on the dyno.


After 4600 rpm hp really drops. The stock tach is marked perfectly. It seems
like your shifting quickly but you really do accelerate. Beware of rear tire spin even into 3rd.

+1 Dyno chart, datalogs and time slips. Put all three together and you can figure it out accurately.
