84 svo build
hey everybody i bought an 84 svo all original in march of 2011 for $1300,it runs and drives, well i drove it for a month and i kept losing boost everytime the motor got hot (normal operating temp) i didnt think much of it cause my boost guage still showed boost. Well in april i tore it down and wanted to regasket the motor and redp all the seals rear, tranny and motor; as i was tearing it down i pulled my downpipe off of the turbo and i noticed something that was not good at all.... there was a craxk all the way across the backside of the exhaust side of the turbo. so of course i was like mother ****** anyway i started doing research and throwing parts at it got the head redone valve stem seals, cleaned up head a little bit, and started with performance parts. i bought the centermount header from stinger performance, turbo airresearch 60 trim,Front mount intercooler from stinger, 38mm external wastegate, boost controller,3inch downpipe from stinger, boost guage, wideband, water, oil pressure, turbo timer, brown top injectors out of a turbocoupe. Now im almost done with it and im trying to figure out a few things im not sure about im new to SVOs all i need is a fuel pump walboro 255 slim fan, coolant lines, the rest of my exhaust,BOV, and finally the ecu. Im not sure what ecu i should go with any ideas? still deciden on the BOV.Im also wonderig if i can delete the stock VAM or can I? Im probably gonna be running about 15lbs of boost or somewhere around that area any suggestions on things i should do while im in this process let me know thanks yall

You HAVE to keep the VAM if you are running a factory LA or PE series ECU, which is required to properly drive the brown top injectors. Only way you can get around the VAM is to switch to either a speed density set up which requires a different ECU or a piggypack of some sort, or a MAF which again requires a different ECU or piggy back of some sort.
With the BOV, get the dual piston BOV that stinger sells or one like it. If you don't reroute the spent air back into the intake track at some point between the VAM and throttle body you will experience some driveability issues when boosting and letting off the gas. 15psi will be safe, but at the upper limit from that turbo, for the brown top injectors. To correctly run larger injectors you either get again a piggyback for the factory ecu or get a stand alone system like Stinger's PiMP set up. I've got one, works outstanding.

sweet that answers my question im probably going with a LA3 out of a turbo coupe that had the brown top injectors thanks for the help on the VAM wasnt sure if it was possible to take it out and tweek the ecu for it im definately not going speed denisty and im either going to a greddy type rs, HKS SSQ, or a greddy type s still not sure i dont really like dealing with stinger have had some problems with them on communication and some other issues thanks for the help ill probably have more questions in the build but im close to having it done

Sounds like your on the right track to making one hell of a screamer. Lets see some pictures of that thing. For reference my car, full weight with nothing but a K&N Filter, MBC set at 18lbs and flowmaster mufflers ran 14.5@98 with a slightly slipping clutch. If you have not upgraded the clutch yet now is the time before you take it out and realize the revs are rising and your not gaining speed. You should be in the 13's easily and get good gas mileage.
