I would keep the turbo'd 2.3 in a heart beat! The SVO Mustangs were a force to be reckoned with in their day. Hell, they could take a GT with no issue. And, lets not forget that only a low number were made which makes them entirely collectable.
I think someone else mentioned it, lifting your hood after spanking a 5.0 and seeing a 4 banger.....PRICELESS!

Don't pull a turbo 2.3L to drop a 5.0 in it. That'd be like finding a '67 Camaro with the Chevy 302 and yanking it to drop in a 350.
If you're itching to have a 5.0, sell the turbo 2.3 to someone who cares for those motors, and find another Mustang for for the 5.0.

do not take the 2.3 out!!!! i will kill the value on the car completely, there were only 9,387 produced, so the value will only go up.
