Twin Turbo 2.3?I'm not very turbo-savvy, so I was wondering what is involved in running a twin turbo system or if I would be better off just leaving it at a single turbo and tuning up a different part of the motor (or buying a new turbo but keeping it single)?

it would be more efficient to use one large turbo over 2 small ones
but why do you need a 9" rear? that seems like a waste to me.. unless you plan on making a LOT of power |

The car is going to get stripped and turned into a dragster. I'm shooting for about 300hp off the bat but then moving up to about 600hp over a couple years. I just figured it would be easier to install the entire drivetrain while I have the car ripped apart rather than using the original rear and the evantually have to replace it and knock the car out of commission for a while.

![]() Also, should I just keep the stock turbo until after I have beefed up the rest of the motor or should that be soon on my list to replace?

i wud keep the turbo stock for now..
you can see significant power gains by increasing air flow.. such as port and polish and a good (tuned?) exhaust |

if big power is what you're after, a big single turbo is what you want. The "problem" with big singles is that they can take a while to spool-up, which sucks ass in street driving. But that's not a problem for you if you're making a drag car.
Twin turbos also aren't generally used on 4 cylnder engines, as you don't really have the enought exhuast flow from 2 cylinders to make a turbo worth it. The reason you go to a twin is to generate your boost at lower rpm, as it's easier/quicker to spool up two small turbos. If you were going to do some form of dual turbo setup, what you'd most likely want to do is a sequential turbo, much like the 3rd gen RX-7 or Ferrari F40, where there's a small turbo to help low end, and a big-ass turbo for the big power. I still don't think that you'd want that setup in a drag car though, as it's just extra heat and complexity.

twin turbos on a 4cyl isn't really logical..There isn't much beneift and the hotside would be a hassle.
