99-04 gauge swap into a 98

Is this possible or can it not be done? I know they are basicly the same shape and all but is it possible to hook it up to a 98? I really have no idea thought i would ask!

No they cannot directly change out, it would require a bunch of modifications, including a new computer.

because you dont have the electronic odometer right? i know it wont work on my bro's 96 because he has a rolling odometer, and the wiring is different

You can't even swap the gauge cluster between different 2004 models for example, not without a computer reflash from the dealer.

i thought i read on twr that someone did it, but said you had to open the cluster and swap a chip. but i never opened mine, just pulled it and took out the SES bulb once after deleting the smog and prior to the flip chip.

well thats way to much work to get all new gauges. Ive never seen a kit for my year only a plate to make them appear white. some of them are cool but ive always liked the ones AB has in his car.

oh yea i love mine too. simco makes a great product. you want a whole new bezel or just faceplates? you can get the plates cheap, but my lens was terrible oxidized and scratched from the previous owner, so i did it all.

Someone, I forget who, makes a billet plate that replaces the stock instrument cluster and holds autometer guages. Big speedo and tach and 4 2 5/8" guages. Looks killer!!

if you buy the whole cluster as oposed to an overlay (if you get a new circuit board for the back, ie. complete unit...) then it should be calibrated for the cobra. im not sure if it would work

but if you get faceplates for the cobra, the speedo will read wrong...

if you got the housing plate and lens for the cobra but reutilized the stock circuit board and odometer, then it will read wrong- 160 will read 120...

Theres a recked 96 cobra at the junk yard, hit in the back, no damage done to the guage cluster, Its a nice find, some one has already taken the motor out of it. But i can get the cluster for cheap will the circut board come out too?

the circuit board is connected (screwed into the back with phillips head screws) to the housing, cluster, and lens. it is a one piece unit with either 1 or 2 electrical connections in the back. i had 2.
