octane
how come my tuner only alows me to select 87 91 and premium octane for my tune. it won't let me select 93 or 100.
is there a reason why? i have an xcal 3 it was unlocked when i got it. i bought it used from here.

because my on my tuner i only can select 87 91 and premium. so i didn't want to get an octane that i couldn't match with my tune.

you can go better... but you dont ever want to just put a 91 or 93 tune in and go straight from 87 to 91 or 93... BECAUSE even if that needle is on empty you still have a few gallons left... you need to keep the tune down and run a tank through and stop changing what you run all the time....

i have my car tuner for 87 as of now but i was going to try 91 just to see if i could tell a dif. but when i went to go get 91 bp only had 93. so i am running the correct gas for my tune but i was just wondering why i can't select 93 octane on my tuner

like i said before if it has prem on the tuner that is probably 93... sometimes BP and sonoco call prem 94... but dont put the tune in till you run a tank through... just go somewhere else and get gas

Fill up with 93... run the tank to empty.. Fill up with 93 again. Then Tune your car for 93-87 octane, you can run a 91 octane tune and fill up with 93.. Just never go lower then the octane your tuned for. You can always go higher.

93 is premium, on your tuner, and 100 cant be selected cause you dont have the tune

+1 you can tune to any octane, but you'll need a custom tune to do it. click on the link in my sig and Joe can help you out. Also at MOST gas stations 93 IS premium. I have my car tuned to run 93. However, I was actually running premium for a few months before I got the tune, so I was sure that all the fuel in my system was 93 oct. BTW, if I were you I wouldn't even consider going above 93 with your current setup. Once you have done a bit more you can consider going higher, but then you'd have to kiss pump gas goodbye.

because your car is not built for it, you would need a motor that can handle it...........this is wat im told cuz i had the same question
i raised my buddies by +1 all across the rpms and +2 globally oh and only raise em if you keep your octane higher keep it at 91 or 93 trust me it makes the difference...the timing that is....itll feel a good amount more powerfull |
