blown motor 439rwhp evaluation

so i was originally pissed but now im not
i finally tore the motor down today

PERFECT!
im not lying, when i say this motor looked BRAND F**KIN NEW nearly i mean it
rod bearings looked AMAZING expect 1 caught a piece of metal small dig in the middle
piston rings allllll but 1 were PERFECT
#5 had a cracked ring but the ring lands were PERFECT i even tried to find a weak spot i couldnt
the rods and push rods PERFECT none bent

you'd think 439rwhp would have taken its toll..nope!
piston side skirts looked soo unworn to other motors i tore down i was almost embarrassed
like this motor was laughing at the power i gave it. and loving it

makes me want to put it back together stock....see what she will live through but i've already ordered the parts...im going to keep everthing though. rods, pistons and the crank. these parts were blessed lol

i'll post pictures tomorrow
you would think this motor was stock. cylinder walls are just beatiful as well no scores or scratches

this motor used to be s/c
then i turbo'd it
10psi 400rwhp
12psi 439rwhp

its over heated BAD before. NOTHING
everything looked amazing

im going to re-port & polish the heads and lower intake
possible a new cam i'm undecided. i'd really like to just wrap it up and not touch the cam and short block ever again.
heads eventually might be CNC big valve

Sweet, you talk about tearing apart an engine like it is a couple hour job. lol, I wish I could do that. Do you have to lift the engine out or do you keep it in the car? Come to Michigan and give me 300 HP and I will be happy.

Wow, that crazy news, lol. Can't wait to see you finish your next build though How long have you had and ran this motor?

lol, I guess our engines our tougher that expected sometimes. I hope my holds up once I install my turbo, lol.

Maybe you'll have good luck with the 4.2 tho. how much did that set you back and what are you planning on doing to it if I may ask?

i plan on 11.6psi pump gas depending where my fuel pump duty is at i may too 13psi pump gas
or 10psi and a 50-75shot
til i can afford to re-do the fuel
still debating if i wana go return style/fuel cell
or fork the cash and stay sleeper for cobra tank and dual pumps....

then after that turbo upgrade pt67 til i decide for 600rwhp+ then i'll go bigger

but the ideal setup with the pt67 and fuel setup will be:
15psi street pump gas maybe 17psi depending on numbers
or 13psi and a 50shot
or even 15psi and a lil 25shot to get her spooling quick

as for now when the motors complete
11.6psi-pump gas 440+rwhp goal 400+rwtq
depending how that goes
10psi and 25-50shot
or 13psi-470rwhp goal

very nice sounds like a lot of work, but still sounds fun. As for the fuel, or anything really, I don't know, I like the idea of having a sleeper, but then I also would like something kewl to show off. and your car already looks sick.
Be sure to keep us all updated when you start in on this, and post plenty of pics!

Btw, whats the highest boost that you would safely be able to run on the 3.8 with completely stock engine?

IMO 10psi pump 11.6-12psi if you have a good tuner like me

race fuel 12+

9-10psi pump gas is safe
race fuel 10-12psi is safe

also ALOT has to do with the tune and timing
the right tune will lead to a long lengthy motor time

sounds good that everything is holding together. its all in the tune! Justin @ VMP tuning has an S197 V6, STOCK 4.0 motor on a single turbo kit making 450+rwhp. he can tune like no one's business.

Good to hear chris, to bad you ordered that stuff. You could have put that money into your fuel upgrade.

at the same time if your going into the motor like that anyway might as well spend the money once and have a built motor cpable of handling 600rwhp+ easy.

The engine has to come out to take the bottom end apart. It would be possible to disassemble it in a few hours if you have done it before. I believe Chris has done this a few times before.

lol i would love to let a stock bottom with better gapless rings see 475rwhp

but a 4.2 stroker is what best fits me
as it is once the fuel and turbo is upgraded lets see how long 500rwhp keeps me happy then 550
then 600
then who knows

as for the nitrous is for pure experiment
people GREATLY underestimate the stock motor and i cant believe how under estimated even the big guys in the v6 world take the built motors.

50-75shot and about 10-13psi is pure experiment as far as what torque i will see.
i'd also like to track test the nitrous vs straight boost setup
IMO 13psi and 50shot will surpass and run quicker then 15-16psi
rwhp will be seen but 1/4 wise i strongly think 13psi and a small shot will do the trick

bracket racing straight boost all the way IMO. nitrous has to many issues unless you get the right kit and do it all right then no.

18psi im unsure. when i get to that point im considering a 2stage boost controller
13psi-50shot then 3rd and 4th gear 16-18psi

race fuel will be 20-23psi.
top goal is about 25psi with no more then 110 preferably 100
