Alright well I gave it a try and it didnt seem to help at all. I did it exactly how you said to do it. The clock and radio presets didnt get lost like they do when you just disconnect the negative cable for a while. is that normal? I think I will just forget about it for a week or so and see if it works itself out.

leave everything like it is going to be when you drive it on, and yes leave the screen in, and when you say junk to straighten air out what all do you have?
and the clock presets and such wont reset this just resets the flash memory

I had a metal honeycomb grid for photography strobes cut out in the size of the pipe. It worked really good to straighten the air but since it still idled hard I figured that wasnt the problem so I took it out.

Well what I heard is that if the MAF is after a bend in the piping you can get a bad reading because most of the air is forced to the outer edge of the tube going around the bend and doesent hit that MAF sensor correctly. They have this device for Mazdas. AEM Air-Straightener for the Mazdaspeed3, JSC Speed
