speedometer quit working

94 mustang convertible today i was hooking up a wire behind my radio for my amp and somehow it blew the radio fuse so i replaced the fuse and the radio worked but after that i drove it and realized the speedometer and the rearview mirror lights dont work so i replaced all the fuses and they still dont work i was pretty sure it was a fuse for the speedometer because i had blown the fuse for it before but this time it didnt work i dont really think its the speed sensor or cable becuase of how it happened it seems like it would be something electrical i was thinking it might be a relay or sumthin that controls the speedometer and lights fuses or sumthin but not sure yall tell me wat u think

ill look into some info on things like this.. but dont goto a auto shop that should be your last resourt.. they will half-ass check it out then charge you for them to tell you "well we searched everything in your car for the problem and couldnt find it, but if you wanna pay 100 dollars we can air up your tires! *durrrrrr*" .. on a serious note ill look into these things and see what i cant find out

spedo

ive heard of ppl blowing out whole dashes because they were messings with radios, first of all please tell me the car was off, but for starters just check your fuses its easy the panels right below the drivers side right by pedals and then theres a relay box under the hood just look at them to if not you'll have to buy a new dash , could be the actualy conntion two it goes by the speed of your rear tires so check the hook-ups

was the negative terminal of the battery disconnected when you were messing with the electrical?

not that it directly relates to your problem, but you should always remove the power source when doing these tasks... but it could be a number of things from loose electrical contact from moving things around the dash to blown fuse...
