thanks, thats what i wanted. Just wanted to be sure that my tach would still be right so i wouldn't be too afraid of over revving before retuning.

Yea, your tach wont be affected.

As far as "you cant just bolt in gears and expect to drop time", i droped 3/4's and only did a gear change

But i sorta see what your saying.

you also have a v-6... no offense and im not trying to start things... but i dont think your going to take a GT and go from a 14.0 (just pulled that number out of the air) and drop to a 13.25... youll never hold it with street tires... where with a 3.8 your prob up to about what a stock GT has for torque applied to the ground with those gears!

no need to say no offense, its tru. This is also in the v6 mustang section, and all of my statements thus far have been geared (lol) towards such vehicles.

But your right, dropping in 4:10s in a gt that already runs 14s isnt going to take it down 3/4s a second. Naturally, the faster the car, the less impact any mod will have. I went from Mid 16's to mid-high 15's because of gears.

I'm guessing that was directed at me?

So you think 4:10's would be better for my v6 manual? or should I still stick with getting the 3.73's?

from the looks of that spreadsheet the 4:10's would have the top of 4th just at 100mph if im shifting at 5250. But is that spreadsheet for the 3.8? or for the gt?

For a v6 (and pretty much any mustang), 3:73s for manual, 4:10s for auto.

That is basically what everyone goes by.

3:73s will be a huge improvement, give you a much snappier car, yet still be quite streetable. 4:10s will give you an even snappier car, but people tend to think 1st gear is far too short and almost pointless. I dont have a manual, so i dont know first hand. I have 4:10s in my auto and love 'em. I suggest 3:73s. Final answer.

good point woody. Once you start getting over 200 rwhp, you wanna avoid those steeper gears. If you honestly think that some decent numbers are in your future, dont go as steep.
