gears t-lok

hey, I'd like to know how much i'm looking at price-wise to get a t-lok and gears installed. Also I've heard a couple complaints about motive gears should i steer away from them? I had planned on ford racing t-lok and motive 3.73 gears. I've got a 5 speed

I got charged 250. It will be different depending on where your located. I have motive, and from what I heard, they are all built by Ford racing. i have yet to hear a whine out of mine. I think the installer plays the biggest factor in how your gears sounds.

also what exactly is the reasoning behind everyone opting for 3.73 for manual tranny and 4.10 for the autos?

the 4.10s tend to make first gear very steep and short for manuals, but for the autos that works without u having to shift

ehhh kinda... its about trap speed and where you shift at the end of the track also... its better to stay in a gear just a tad longer then hitting like 5th (where it drops huge) for a split second... i have seen 5-speeds run 4.30s but you need slicks for that...

you want to trap like 500 before redline at the end of the 1/4 (unless you think you are done with mods )

ive never heard wat boring said about trap speed, but i guess it sounds legit. Manual's are 5 speeds, and auto's are 4, so in backing up woody's statement, it makes 1st super short.

i dont know what version this is but you can see if you play around you want to make sure you are in the right gear at the end... it is all about area under the curve... and if you have DR's or slicks you can go 4.10s... for the street 3.73 are going to be better because youll roast the 4.10s if you are making anything over 240rwhp...

thanks, i think i get it. makes sense though... would be pretty stupid to rely on the final pull of the race to be in 5th gear....

if i remember correctly stock is 3.55 for 5 speed... so is there really THAT noticeable a difference between that and the 3.73?

like in terms of 0-60 or 1/4 mile time how much could it shave off potentially? when installed with a t-lok

gears + tlok is like a 40hp gain without the actual gain..

i dunno what that means is you need to tune it otherwise your speedo will be off which could lead to a possible ticket.. you can tune it with any tuner without buying a tune

since your car appears to be a 99, you can get a speedo gear for your rear end. Alot cheaper than a tuner.

As far as 1/4 mile, i think gears take off as much as 3/4 a second.

well, unless you plan on buying a nitrous kit or a tuner just to get a proformance tune, you dont NEED a tuner to change speedometer in a 99.
