weird handing issue

I was riding around today and every once in a while at no particular speed my car would pull to the right. After turning left to try to correct the problems its like the wheels would just grab and suddenly the car would pull to the left. What could cause something like this? I brought it into belle tire because I thought it might be some kind of alignment issue but they said everything looked fine and proceeded to try and sell me winter tires.

did they do an alignment on your car or just check the tires for inside wear? you can still have an alignment issue that was just caused that hasnt shown any wear on the tires yet.

first, check the alignment, however, one of the common problems with fords is the steering box will start to wear out at the center and cause play in the wheel. Or it could be part of the front suspention

Hmm the steering box thing sounds like it might be a good explanation of what is going on. Would that come and go intermitently?

could be the gears in the box, or if its intermitent i would think it would almost be a line leaking or something with the pump, my truck has like 1/4 turn of play (its common on all fords)

its just following grooves in the road, hold your steering wheel tighter and get some sub frame connectors

Think so? my brother had a Jeep CJ-5 that I dove a lot and it would do that because of its narrow wheel base. Does the Mustang have the same thing? Why do only certain cars do that?

I am talking about the width of the vehicle, not the tire. But yes they are the stock tire size.

According to Tirerack.com it looks like they switched over from 205/65/15s to the 225/55/16s with the later 2001 models.

Its funny, I feel the same thing sometimes and it makes me wonder if something is wrong. Last night I was cruising down I-75 and felt a bit of "uncertainty" in the wheel. I was on a real nice well maintained part of 75. I was driving about 85 mph. Having driven so many miles in this car I know it pretty well. Well, I had the top down and with my speed at 85 and there was a slight cross/front wind.... it makes my car feel as though there might be something wrong with the steering/alignment/tires. As soon as I-75 curved to the right, the problem stopped because then I was heading straight into the wind. GF and WL,,, I hate grooved roads!!!!LOL!

it's just the grooves in the road like people said more than likely. Those are some small wheels, and tires buddy.

Might want to save up for something a little bigger and meatier.
