it would be good at idle for sure (a very loud idle) but anything above 2500-3k rpms on an essex v6 will sound poorly... i would go for them though- i love the flowmaster sound!

no, raspy or more of a whine though. They lose tone up top unlike a v8

Most v6 set ups start to sound bad up top with out an agressive cam, but they do sound good down low where the car will be driven all of the time except when it is being pushed hard.

Ok prounounce this outloud vring and hold the letter n and count in your head 1,2,3,4,5. And that might be what ab is getting off. Best to keep cats on. And for a throatie nice sound h pipe with cats.

well, ive heard a couple of catted and muffled set ups and the non catted muffled set ups, while losing their tone up top, at least ad a decent tone in the first place.

If I absolutely had to have cats on my car (and not have them removable) I would get or make a catted midpipe and run with NO mufflers. I'd be willing to bet that this would sound a lot better than one with mufflers, maybe as good or better than the non catted muffled set up.

srt-4's have this and ive never heard onr that sounded bad and they're 4 bangers.

Hmm are u sure you mean the srt-4's have cutouts instead of no mufflers?

Im pretty sure that the str-4's have no mufflers, just cats to muffle the sound, (well, at least the later ones) but you also have to realize that their turbos muffle a bit of the sound as well. Thet might have resonace chambers though.

What do you mean by cut outs?

any even firing motor (as earlier stated) will lose all tone quality at the powerband. idle and cruise speeds sound good, but anything over 2500 rpms on an essex v6 sounds like shit. even my car sounds shitty up top, so i cruise around below 2500 and dont get complaints. either way, it will be loud without cats. real loud.

Our neighborhood has AB on a blacklist for 'drivers to complain about the cops to' probably because of his loud exhaust, lol.

hehe, possibly. if you want a great idle, go with flowmasters and no cats. i also like the idle and cruise of mac mufflers!

I know this leaves you with stock shortie headers...

http://www.rpmoutlet.com/musv6ypcb.htm

But you think you could get a few hp out of this and a nice sound?

very restrictive
shitty flow, not to good of sound
limits options in the future...
