Problem with car...I think it's power steering...what do you think?
Coming home today I slowed down to take a right turn, then accelerated out of the turn (smooth acceleration, didnt gun it or put the car above 2k rpms) but then after driving for maybe 2 secs in third, i went to take another right turn, and my steering had a lot of resistance and i couldnt make the turn, so i pulled of into the grass along the side of the road. and i had to turn the steering wheel as hard as i could to get into the grass. then i went to go try to accelerate again and my car had shut itself off sometime while i had been stopped. i turned it back on and everything worked fine. was it power steering? i just dont know if power steering problems would cause the car to shut off.

It sounds like you stalled the engine somehow. That would make the steering very hard to turn.

if i would have stalled it would have been during the acceleration though wouldnt it? i accelerated smoothly and then put the car in neutral to go to make the turn, but the car wouldnt turn and it ran until i stopped, then sometime when i was trying to get the wheel to turn while in the grass my car had shut itself off sometime (the car was still in neutral). i know the car was still running while i was pulling into the grass though. is there any way to stall while in neutral?
ive driven maybe 20 miles since then with no problems... |

you know what...i just thought about it some more, and i think i put the car in third coming out of the turn instead of second, so i probably did stall out that way and then i didnt notice my car had shut off until i was in the grass. because i just remembered i was going to accelerate more after 3rd, but instead just coasted in neutral to the 2nd turn since nobody was behind, and found out it wouldnt turn.
so im pretty sure i stalled out. i guess i was just concerned about my car so i couldnt recollect the information right...still dont know why i put it in 3rd though, wasnt thinking there. thanks for giving me a flashback lol |
