Blown Head Gasket

Ok I need some serious help guys.
I blew it tonight... babied it/pushed it/had a friend bring me more antifreeze/repeated over and over till I got it home.

I'm positive it's a head gasket.
I need a how to...

I have tomorrow off and me and my brother are going to tackle it but neither of us has done it before... we really need a how to and I can't stress how bad I need it. All I have is all day tomorrow and then half of Sunday till I gotta be back at work... so time is limited to get this boy fixed.

PLZ HELP!

You only need to do part of that. You won't be removing the timing cover or cam.

One tip is to remove the battery before you start, then you can unbolt the bracket that has the alternator and power steering pump and set it where the battery was with all the hoses and wiring connected.

Also the AC compressor can be unbolted and wired aside without disconnecting any of the lines.

It is difficult to remove the head bolts. I would use a 6 point socket and a strong breaker bar plus a length of pipe.

Once you have the heads off you should have a machine shop check them for cracks and surface them. Also get every trace of gasket material off the block gasket surface and check it for straightness.

You will need a complete head gasket set and new head bolts.

This is a good time to replace the hoses, coolant, and thermostat and probably the water pump if there is any indication of leaking.

Be sure to change the oil if there is any indication of coolant in it.

Good luck. Take your time and get it right.

OK...

After testing today in the daylight...

I don't think it's a head gasket.

:When I pour the antifreeze (actually water now, ran outta antifreeze and was just testing) it takes about 2 seconds then starts to pour out the bottom of the engine.

Im back to this:::::: Freeze Plug. I just had the engine pulled and spent $600 to have them all replaced. I'm pretty sure it's just a freeze plug that he didn't get seated very well. And he (my brother-in-law who is a mechanic) is probably going to have to pull the engine again because I looked to see if the plug that was leaking was the visible one... and it isn't. I called him and he said he'd fix it free if it was, and he said it
sounds like it is.. cuz a head gasket wouldn't just pour out like that.

Anyways so that's where I'm at right now and he's supposed to come look at it in a few hours. Thx guys.

I had a 97 V6 and i had this sort of trouble. Thought it was the heads and it actually turned out to be a bad thermostat and a small hole in the radiator. Hopefully it's not your heads and it just the freeze plug but if it is the heads it would be a good time to upgrade
