ok j, see in your last pic how the right muffler is connected to that right cat? Is that welded in or is there a flange that is bolted together?

![]() This may help. The yellow circle is the passenger side you asked about and its welded. The driver side is welded too. The flange I circled in red on the drivers side has about a 6 inch section of exhaust that is "capped off". |

Basically, from what I can see, you need to take your entire exhaust off, put your lt's on and go from there. It looks like you can reuse your catback but you will def need to do some fabbing on the side with the weld.
Your going to need to buy or make an h pipe. The h pipe will connect your lts to your catback. What i think you could do, for not alot of money, is get your lts in, and drive to a muffler shop and have them make you a custom setup. This way, you will be able to use your flowmasters. Kinda see where im going with this? |

Plus, if you still wanted to use two of your cats (the two closest to the back of the car), you can hack saw them off and have the muffler show weld them right onto your new setup.
Maybe give it a day on here and see if anyone else has any thoughts. As for me, i feel thats your only option. |

This sounds like it makes sense a lttile more now thanks. Let me post this picture that may clarify a bit as well.
![]() The yellow circle is what they removed leaving like a "stump" (blue dot)thats closed off. The green dots are where its welded. The only flange down there is right by the closed off "stump". Both sides are welded. |

Ok, yeah thats pretty clear now.
That being said, this is what i think could be done at the shop. ![]() I just dont see anyway around getting an h pipe. This setup is more simple with less peices. And since most of the peices the shop will have to make will be straight, i think it would be fairly cheap too. The only pieces that are bent are pieces you already have. |

Yea, by cutting them off and welding them onto the new piping.

Question: I dont see why you would HAVE to have an H pipe. You would definately have to have divorced duals and have to move the cats back ... but H pipe is optional I think.
Also If you already had dual exhaust with an H pipe, can you go to a shop to have LTs installed and keep your cats and H pipe? They would just move the h pipe back some right? Oh also I just noticed you had your dual exhaust done sorta funny lol. You kept the Y pipe and turned it into a sorta X pipe =P |

True, you dont NEED an h pipe. i just kept refering to it as an H pipe instead of saying "that part between your headers and mufflers". You could just do straight pipes to the muffler. H pipe is never a bad idea though.
Yeah, but i dont like to think of it as "just moving it back". You have to shorten SOMTHING to make room for the lts. |

Now you guys bring up a good point, and I think it has some relivence here. Is there an advantage to the H pipe over just running the pipes straight back to their own Cats, and Mufflers and cutting the connection between them???

In a v8, yes, especially a 2v because of the firing order. For a v6, not so much. The stock Y pipe acts as an h pipe, but like i said, im sure an h pipe on our cars wouldnt hurt.
I have heard they dont do shit on a v6, then i have heard the opposite. Id like to see a dyno test. |
