why not straight


so why does everyone recommend h pipes and such instead of straight? just asking cause i have straight on mine and flowmaster 40's and it sounds awesome. is there a performance reason?

Yeah. Someone correct me if i'm wrong but with straight pipes you lose back pressure

as for the sound, its more of an x vs. h type thing. its not that noticeable between the x and h on a stock v6.

H pipe usually nice low tone X is usually raspy and high pitched.

The reason there is a crossover is to equalize pressure. Straight pipes may sound good but you lose some low end power.

Equalize pressure...i thought that v6 were even firing so it really is only a sound mod on a stock v6 right...

yep ur right...h is not needed... but does tend to sound better and there is always some equalization of pressure

This is a v6 mustang with mac lt headers, x pipe, and flowmaster 40's.

It sounds amazing but i think with the h pipe it would sound better.

Im getting a h pipe as soon as i get the lt headers

sound and it evens exhaust flow, exhaust gases favor bank one or the passenger side on the 3.8,

just have a crossover bar welded in for 35 bucks itll sound better, and idle smoother
