yes, another exhaust question
So I have been trying to figure out if a dual exhaust is a good thing for me to do and I cant seem to figure it out after reading through a few threads.
I dont care a whole lot about sound although some more growl would be nice. From what I read I will gain horsepower but lose low end torque. I really dont want to lose any time off my already crappy hole shot, so would it even be worth it to do a dual exhaust? What about just replacing the stock muffler with something with some better flow? Would that maintain what is needed to keep my low end torque? |

wish I could get a GT but I was too poor when we decided to get a Mustang. Plus insurance sucks.

anyways, you listed the pros of a dual setup, but how much will I notice the loss of low end torque on my butt dyno?

your better off getting 2.25 pipes
they'll flow enough 2.5 is still ok but you'll probably lose some low end power especially if your stock or mostly stock expect little to no hp gain from this

I figured I would just check around some local shops to get one custom built. I have heard some places do it pretty cheap. What do I need to tell them? Just that I want a 2.25" true dual setup with an H-pipe? Are stock Cats okay to keep?

The Mac catback setup still needs a midpipe added to it right?

no, it comes with a y pipe that bolts to your stock y pipe. Its cake to put in, and anything more on a stock v6 sounds raspy. I thank myself i bought them every time i start my car.

really? I thought most people think that a h-pipe is the only way to go. Is there any difference performance wise between the mac exhaust and true duals? I guess that setup is sort of like having an x-pipe right?
Where can i get the MAC setup for my V6? Can anyone else recommend just the mac catback setup? |

Ebay is where i got mine. There are alot of sellers on there that have amazing ratings that sell them for cheap.
True duals require headers on our cars, unless you get an exhaust shop to cut your y pipe. |

I've got the same setup at 04Mustang. The Mac Performance catback on the y pipe and I love it. It's not as loud as it would be if I would have gotten x or h pipe, but I still think it has a good sound to it. You'll be surprised at how loud it really is compared to stock.

So your saying that an h-pipe would be louder? I really dont want it to be a whole lot louder than stock becuase I do a lot of highway driving and I dont want it to be annoying.
Maybe I will just go with the MAC catback. Did you notice any difference in performance (good or bad) or not really? |

Honestly, I didn't notice any performance gains, although I'm sure there are some. I found out that I drove my car different once I got it on. My foot is heavier lol. I do a lot of highway driving as well, and its perfect for that. During just normal cruising with your music down you can hear it, but with music up you really can't notice it. Its whenever you accelerate hard is when you really hear it. And during your initial start up, it is really loud, but once it hits normal idle then it quiets down a bit, but still has a nice tone. The tips that come with it look killer IMO
The pic doesn't really do them justice, but they look good.
