Trouble Codes and where do I go?

I am considering purchasing a high mileage 1997 Mustang Coupe (can't beat the price at $650) as a get around town car. It has 2 trouble codes showing on my OBDII...P0300 and P0420 the 300 is an ignition misfiring code and the 420 is a catalyst efficiency code...Can anyone steer me in the right direction for correcting the conditions that cause both of these codes?

Ar the Haynes Manuals an okay source of trouble shooting guides for a 97 Coupe?

yeah it is a fine source. But yeah you will need new cats and to have them see why the cats failed make sure it wasn't something in the engine and it was just the cats going. The the msd ignition and you will be good. How many miles exactly if I may ask?

The 97 Coupe has 198,662 miles on it, good exterior, clean interior (could be cleaner after a good scrubbin), good rubber on the tires, stock wheels (gotta chenge them), good glass all around. The owner from whom I am purchasing it (a young lady...original owner, good maintenance schedule) told me that the engine had been rebuilt and that she has been good about oil changes and etc. The engine is clean with no oil leaks, just alot of oxidization from sitting in the driveway without being run since July. I jumped the car to start it and it turned right over and started up good. Ya can't beat the price $650...it's worth all of that for parts.
My sons and I plan on cleaning it up real good and maybe juicin it up a little too. Any suggestions are welcome...we have done over several Porsches but we wanna try a Mustang next.

if you want this to be a [project car. you could drop a crate engine in it. strip the interior. and make that thing a beast a 5.4L supercharged sounds good to me
