i got a whining noise in the engine

ok heres my little story...i have a 2003 v6 5 speed mustang that has 43000 miles on it. i got into a wreck about a month and a half ago and the hood, bumper, headlight mount, headlights, radiator and the power steering pulley. there has been a high pitched whining in my engine when i accelerate and when i push in the clutch and let the rpms drop the engine whines down too. i was thinking the pulley is bad or maybe the whole pump ive been searching everywhere for a solution. but all i seem to come up with is idler pulley, power steering pulley(maybe) and transmission. so i got the tranny checked and had new bearings put in, as well as blocker rings but that 1200 bucks didnt seem to help. so can anyone help me with a similar experience or might have a clue.

take it back to where you got it fixed at and see if they can spot it. Obviously they didnt fix it right.

But, it could be anything, and its super hard to tell through the internet. Check and make sure nothing is rubbing. Or, put someone in the car and give it gas while you are looking in the engine compartment. See if you can pinpoint the noise that way.

i did that and i figured that since the pulley was replaced that it could be a bad pulley i took it back to them and they said they werent sure what it could be. they said maybe the pulley was bad. the pulley does have a little wobble so maybe the shaft of the pump is bent or maybe just the pulley is bad or the bearing in the pulley

You could remove the serpentine belt and run the engine briefly to see if the noise goes away. If it does then it's some belt driven part, possibly the PS pump.

The PS pump seems likely since the pulley got bent.

could be the throwout bearing in the clutch. Or at least that's what it was when my car did it.
