2000 V6 Manual Trans. Probs

Ok I'm gonna try to make this super short since it's late here and I'm too tired to look anything up right now, just posting of the problems and askin a few questions.
1.When engaging the clutch it makes a high pitch whining sound, but it doesn't always do it. Also it does it sometimes when I'm slowing down.
2.Checked under hood after I got home, it was dark, so I couldn't really see much with my little dim ass flashlight although I did notice the serpentine belt wasn't moving as fast as normal (possibly cold related since it's in the negatives here? Maybe/Maybe not???)

If something is indeed wrong with the trans would it be worth it to just rebuild the whole thing with T-lok and 3.73's now or no? If I need to fix something with the trans I'll just talk to our families mechanic and fill him in on what parts I want and tell him to just tell my dad it's just routine trans rebuilding stuff.
Also would it be cheaper to rebuild my trans or swap in a 6-speed (most likely not gonna happen, although it would be nice.)
Also what all will I be looking at needing (parts and prices) for a rebuild if it comes down to it.

T-lok and 3.73's are rear end components so if you tell a mechanic that and who actually knows what he is doing he is either going to laugh at you or smack you in the face. And if you take your trans somewhereto get rebuilt its going to cost you anywhere from 1000-2000. You dont really have to worry about parts cause your mechanic should order them and rebuild it. You WILL have to pay for the parts of course. Just save up your money is all I can really tell you it aint cheap ive had to get mine rebuilt.

That sucks. Hopefully its not going to require $2,000 worth of rebuild. The thing that sticks out in my mind is that your car is a 2000. Its 2009. Its a 9 year old car. I'm in the same boat when I start hearing squeeks and whines. I have an 04 that seems like it was new just yesterday. The reality is that its 5 years old and if the tranny starts to go, it may be time to just get rid of her. But you know, if you can take care of it for a $100 is one thing but when you could buy a working 2000 for the cost of the repair, it starts to make you think.

I told you I was tired. Forgot to mention intoxicated. Anyways thanks for the input guys. I started it up again this morning and it's doing the same thing. I got under the car and had the girlfriend press the clutch and it's definitely louder under the car, sounded to me like it was coming from the trans. So what clutch should I get because as everyone knows stock sucks? Should I get a lighter flywheel since they'll be in there already?
Might as well get it rebuilt with some better parts if they end up having to do it.

From what you have said it sounds like the throw out bearing or pilot bearing. Get a new clutch and it should be OK.

i have kind of the same problem with my 03 but the clutch doesnt cause it. when i accelerate i hear it whine up kind of like a supercharger noise and then when i push in the clutch to shift i hear the engine whine down and im pretty sure its a pulley because i had the tranny rebuilt with new blockers and bearing and the noise is still there. so it could be your clutch through out bearing. and i think whine for my car is because i was in a wreck and the PS pulley was replaced. how many miles is on the car and whats the history on repairs on it if any?

350ish for install, you dont need stage one clutch unless your going for power and the flywheel IMHO is just not worth the cost

Well the only reason I was looking to get the spec stage 1 was because the plan is to build the car up. Also I hate that no matter how soft you try to launch at a light the car jumps like I'm trying to race. Any ways if I did it myself wouldn't I need special tools such, Besides I only have 1 jack and I don't trust it to do that kind of work. Oh and why is the price for the flywheel in the catalog different from their site?

What's the MM discount on AM?
