Painting your interior inserts

Ive looked for the easy way out by trying to find ones pre painted. At this point im gonna try the high road and paint my inserts myself. Does anyone know what kinda paint do you use. Wats the prep work. And how do you get them out.

personally i used PPG primer and Du Pont paint.. thats high dollar car paint. if you want to go the cheap and easy route you can pick up spray cans at any store and do it yourself... you gotta remember to thoroughly clean the surface you are painting and scuff it really well so the primer will stick.. plastic adhesive will help as well.

use a small flathead to remove the light knob along its side slit. there are two small torx bits under the top of the guage display trim and the radio center trim. after removing this, everything just "pops" out with pressure from a flathead. the shifter trim just pops out with your hands.

Another tip is to use a real fine grit sand paper to rough up the surface a lil, not to the point that its visible just so you give the paint something to cling to. Afterwards make sure the pieces are clean. Also while painting the parts take ur time and use thin coats, if you do this itll come out lookin' great.

again, make sure to clean the every piece really really good. you don't want any thing left on it or the paint will not lay right. i made that mistake and it turned out really bad. it was a mess and i ended up screwing it up. let us know how it works out

muahhaahaa.. i know all about it...........

if you do it yourself.. use "krylon fuzion" from walmart is a new paint made just for plastics NO PRIMING REQUIRED... so if you use primer you'll get a invincable coat and it wont scratch if you give it a couple of coats of clear when your done...
