Is this a good deal?

A co-worker offered to sell me his '99 V6 Mustang Coupe 5 speed for $2500, its got 146384 miles and he just threw a new clutch in it. I know he treats it well, have ridden in it and no mechanical issues as far as I can tell. Anything specific I should look for before I jump on this? Thanks.

Thats a lot of miles but a damn good price. I would change the gear and tranny fluid seeing how those have probably never been changed Im assuming.
either way you can drop a 3.8 with 40k on the clock for $500..

wouldnt changing the transmission fluid in that with that many miles, cause some problems?

head gaskets. If they havnt been replaced already, which would suprise me if they havnt. Im pretty sure they have been known to go on these cars. just did them on my friends, but it also depends on the matinance of the car.

The OP said it is a 1999 Mustang. only the singleport v6 Mustangs had head gasket issues.

That is a good price and all, but for 3500 more, I would sell you my car

Not a bad deal by any means. I'd check the freeze plugs- that'll give you an idea whether or not there's been any engine work done. And although it could potentially be a problem, I would still change the tranny fluid asap.

I have had a plenty of threads detailing different installs (even a how-to article on the main page for installing long tube headers)... I just never bookmark or note where I've been posting.

if u wanna check and see if its been in a wreck (in the front at least) look and see if the two 'pillars' that come up from the front bumper are the same distance off of the hood. if they are then u r good if not... its probably been wrecked. not many people check for that kind of thing. i ran into that kind of problem when i was looking for mine.
