At The Race Track?
Ok...I live near...very near...the Bristol Motor Speedway. I've never had a car on a racetrack in my life, but Bristol is the home of some wonderful dragstrips and different racing.
I would like to time my car as stock as accurately as possible. So, here's the stupid question...lol: How do you go about utilizing a track to check your performance? I don't want to look like an idiot in front of people...and I haven't a clue who supervises the dragstrip or when. Do you just go and time yourself? I guess I would need some kind of permission or something...just don't know how it works. Anyone near tracks that test their cars???? Tell me the general procedure for doing so...shouldn't differ too much from track to track. Of course I could take a spin around the high banks of the oval...Bristol is an awesome Nascar track...brings out tempers...lol Thanks

i have never done this either but i would assume......go to the person highest in charge (ask the employees or management) and tell him/her what you want to do and if you can set up a date that you can use the track....but i would think that there would be a fee for you useing it tho

Go to there website or to the drag strip and see when there test and tune night is. Pay normally 5-10 dollars and usually it is race all you want. They give you time slips at the end.

i have no idea about tracks ... their isn't one for about a 100 miles
it kinda sucks thats why they made a road on the south side of town with no cross streets... thats right on the edge of town... its almost flat and 1/2 a mile long great for racing... their are some tread marks up their all ready... and its only been open for a month
