Steeda CAI

Anyone have one of these? Are they better quality and have better performance than the K&N?

from what i understand about cais, the aftermarket intakes are all pretty much the same, because they are removing the stock intake, which is where the real problem is. build your own, ebay, or americanmuscle.com or stangmods.com and get no name brands. same performance from all of them. but one thing ive found out is plastic pipes are better than metal pipes

the only difference between the 3.9 and the 3.8 is the crank...so yes it will fit, as well as any aftermarket part.

ya, i havent found a site that says 99-04 v6 for anything, but people will tell you that even though its advertised for 99-03 v6, it fits their 04 v6. i would be willing to bet someone on here has a cai or something that is said to fit the 3.8s only, but they have it on their 3.9s

i dont know if youre looking into new pistons, but ive heard that pistons are the only part that if its made for the 3.8, it wont fit the 3.9. but if youre even going down that road, im sure someone else can give you the answer.

ok then you should be fine buying any part made for the 3.8 if youre sticking to bolt ons. i havent heard of a bolt on that wont work for both the 3.8 and the 3.9. im kind of doing exterior/interior/engine all at once...kind of taking awhile

i wouldn't spend more than 50 bucks on an intake, every name brand one is over priced, and you're paying for the name.

50 bucks?!?!?!?!?!?! where am i going to find an unused one for that price? besides i want a name brand that has a good reputation. i would rather overpay for a cai that will last and has good quality than pay 50 bucks for a cheepo one that im going to have to replace in like 6 months.

piping is piping. Its a tube, how could it not last? They are all the same, with different color filters, with different names on them. You could make one for twenty bucks that is just as good as 180 dollar ones. What do they add, 5hp? Go cheap or overpay.

the only point in going brand name is if you want brand name, and have money to spend on brand name...or if you find one used with no problems for cheap. like i posted earlier...the stock air intake is where the problem is located. just about anything that replaces the factory intake will be better...but it all depends on how you want to spend whatever amount of money you have. if you want brand name and dont mind paying the extra $100+ for brand name...do it. we cant dictate how you spend your money, but we can recommend how we would spend the money

I have a BBK cai but steeda is good. But all these guys are right you are just paying for the name, we put an american muscle on my sisters and the only difference is the size of the air filter and the name. Do what you want and buy what you want man

Oh yeah all the quality of the air filters are the same, all the aftermarket brands SHOULD be able to take off and just clean, correct me if I am wrong please.
