Is It A Vacuum Leak?

As some of you may know, my car made a clicking noise when the ac or defog/defrost was running. I found a crack in the radiator fan so got that replaced, and the clicking stopped. Now when i go to make a stop, my rpms drop to ~500 and my car starts shaking like it wants to stall out. It never stalls though. I searched and found that a vacuum leak will do this, but my car only does it when I have the ac or defog/defrost is on. If it were a vacuum leak would it do that all the time? Or is it definitely a vacuum leak?

How many miles on your engine? You might want to check your IAC. It is located on the upper intake near the passenger side. It is back near the firewall. It is held on by two small bolts. Just unbolt it and clean it out. Infact look on this sites howtos, its in there. But it looks different on our years. Not hard to do.

It could also be a vacum leak, check all your vac hoses.

im approaching 48.5k miles for it. like i said before, when the radiator fan was spinning, it would click, but after i replaced it, the clicking stopped but this started. ill check it out tomorrow and just avoid stopping with the radiator fan running until i figure it out.

well it could just be coisidence but Im not sure. Perhaps the fan was installed incorrectly and is messing with the electrical system and draining power? I have no idea.

ya, it is a possible coincidence. me and a friend replaced the fan, and i really trust this guy, so a mistake was possible, but i highly doubt it. ive glanced around in there and couldnt see anything, but im going to have him help me find out whats going on, because he knows a lot more than me about cars. but it would be nice if something just wasnt connected right, i really dont want to have to buy some more parts. but ill let you know what i find out tomorrow.

well like I said if its the IAC you can just clean that out with carb cleaner. It would take all but 10min to do and is only 2 bolts.

my car still does this all the time, im going to try the IAC but i doubt that will work seeing as how sometimes it doesnt do it all the time, cleaning my Throttle body did a better job to keep it at bay.

when you say cleaning your throttle body do you mean just spraying some cleaner in and letting it running? I was reading somewhere that if you use certain cleaners it can deteriorate the special black coating on the backside of the throttle body blade as well as the back half of the throttle body.

no, by cleaning throttle body i mean taking the thing off, and using seafoam on the end of a toothbrush and cleaning off carbon, the black coating your talking about sounds like an old gasket that needs to be scraped off and replaced.

No it's definitely not a gasket. I'm talking about inside the TB from the back of the TB plate to the end of the TB there is a teflon coating and it is black. Read the caution at the bottom of these instructions. Ford Mustang V-6 BBK Throttle Body Installation Instructions

Google comes up with a crap load of info about Ford using a teflon coating that is easily damaged. Look to see if your TB cleaner says it's safe for TB coatings. If not you may have already damaged it.
