LTs AND Cats?

Ok well Ive always heard about getting rid of the cats when getting LTs, and as far as I know only MAC makes the 3.8 LTs. So here is my question, can you get those LTs and still keep at least 2 cats to stay legal?

I have dual exhaust with an H pipe, all custom made. Would it not be possible for a shop to just refab to put the cats further back towards the H pipe?

yes, yes you can get a shop to weld in your cats in the mid pipe, or the h pipe in your case, i would recomend looking for high flow cats if you plan on doing that they seem to do a lil better than the stock ones and mac is not the only company that makes longtubes here are Lts from jegs Pace Setter 70-3220 - Pace Setter Painted Headers for Cars - JEGS dont know much bout em tho im sure they would work just fine

How sure are you about that. I would have to question that because you are living in CA, a state known for stupidly harsh requirments.

I live in NC and the county I live in does require testing but I dont think its super stringent.

If you want the cats off just tell them the car is strictly for the track and not the street. Then they have no reason to tell you they can't do it.

No...he' right. If the car being inspected came with 4 cats, to be "legal" the car must have 4 cats. Now, alot of shops will look past that, but the fact is, the car is still "illegal."

I just put longtubes on mine, and put on two new High-flow CATS, i dont have emissions testing here in SC though, just did that to retain a little gas mileage, (gas was really high at the time,) after 60,000 miles, im taking them off though.

yep, both are right. pacesetters are popular in the f-body world cuz theyre the cheapest LTs you can get. they have a tendency to basically fall apart, rust thru quick and overall just a poor design. youre better off spending your money right the first time cuz like they say, you get wut you pay for

Lol I never said I was going to get pacesetters lol. But thanks for the help, guys at my local club said the same thing. Its technically not legal if any cats are removed from what came from the factory.

Im tempted to have it done anyway.
