Transmission flush?

I remember reading awhile back ago that doing this might just unplug any leaks...my car is a 98 stang and has about 127k miles on it good idea or bad to do flush? also i've noticed its starting to take just a little longer to start up in the cold weather.

one more thing the only thing i've done consistantly since i got the car (100k miles when first bought) is oil changes what other changes should i get checked out?

fuel filter, clean out fuel injectors, i would seafoam it, and spark plugs. Thats a good start with getting stuff done. I would post more, but kinda arguing with the girlfriend. So once thats done I'll help a little more.

I think the leaking thing only applies if its never been flushed before and over 100k miles. So if your tranny has never been flushed before I dont think I would do it. But I dont really know for sure either.

as far is cleaning fuel injectors do you guys use the fuel injector stuff that you put in your gas engine or do you take them out individually and clean them?

Fuel injector cleaner is almost useless, the gas itself removes what ever build up there is, but nothing will remove the particles that clog each individual fuel injector filter. IMO it is much more worth it to take out your fuel injectors (involves removing upper intake for easy access), take them to a shop that does that and have all new filters and o-rings on the injectors replaced, and checked for flow match. I had mine done 6 injectors for $50... They showed me the filters that were inside the injectors and they were shot and clogged.

I would just change the trans fluid and filter by dropping the pan.

And you should probably flush your cooling system and change your differential fluid, also change your spark plugs, pour seafoam down your brake booster line and let it sit for 30 mins that cleans out your car pretty good and its fun to do. And if you want it to start better in the cold put SYN 5W-30, That's what I put in mine and my car started right up after sitting outside in -20deg for a day.

i forgot to mention, Wal-mart has this thing where they put something through the engine of the car, and spray the fuel injectors directly, i think it cost like 40.00 here where i live.

I wouldn't be able to say for sure because at the same time I had that done I had also cleaned out a 1/4 inch in circumfrence of sludge out of my lower/upper intakes, and cleaned the MAF. I went from 13 mpg to 16 mpg so somewhere in there having the injectors cleaned did something for an increase.

The shop I had it done is the biggest turbo/diesel/injector shop in town for 20+ years, and these guys said the injectors were in serious need of service so it was a good thing I brought them in.

My car does that to when I try to stop. I would have to say that it is most likely your brake rotors are shot. I know mine are messed up they are getting worse to the point it does not want to even stop anymore and the steering wheel shakes harder.

I would just replace all the transmission fluid by draining the convertor (there is a plug in the convertor to do that) and dropping the pan. Also replace the filter. I don't think that would do any harm. I would recommend Mercon V fluid from the Ford dealer.
