Aluminum Driveshaft
Where's any place that they sell aluminum driveshafts for a 2000 sixxer? I've only seen places with up to 99 and then 02 but no 2000. Help me out! I'm creating a full parts list to complete this year and that's one of them.
Thanks.

I thought the 99-04 drive shafts were all the same but I could be wrong.
Not sure about there rep but, google gave me this. Speed Concepts - M-4602-G - Aluminum Driveshaft for 1979-1995 Mustang/GT/Cobra 5.0L V8 and 1994-2004 3.8L V6 Last edited by winnie51189; February 10th, 2009 at 12:57 AM. |

Just make sure you get part #M-4602-G, and not the J version. If you've got an auto, you'll have to swap your yolk onto the new shaft, but it's a direct fit if you've got a manual transmission. The only thing I noticed from my aluminum shaft was a reduction in vibration. I felt no increase in power at all, so don't get your hopes up. In my opinion, there are better things you can spend $250 on. AmericanMuscle has always treated me well in the past.

^ it isn't about the weight. It is more about the rotational mass involved. A physics thing.
Welcome to the forums.

if this is a later mod in your modding adventure do it, but if this coming before cam/heads/intakes/gears/tuner/udp/RR's any of these then save an aluminum drive shaft for last. I have one and couldn't tell a difference.

I know about what to expect, I appreciate all the input. I am putting together a mods list and budget for the year so wanted to see an actual price and distributor. I've been told by a friend that has done everything possible to a sixxer that the 5.0 with T5 tranny also has the 28spline rear and the same driveshaft can be used. Any input on that?

Winnie that looks like a winner! Apparently the idea of the 5.0 using the same thing was dead on. Cool. I'm getting gears, t-lok and tune and then installing the driveshaft right after that. Thanks all.

i bet it will help with gas mileage, with the whole less rotational mass, combine that driveshaft with gears and t-lok,....oh yeah..
