02 fuel pump problems
My 6 cy/ Mutang convertible's fuel pump will not come on. The switch in the trunk has been checked and is ok. When I try to start it I get a low fuel light, and there is fuel in it. I was told to check the relay in the fuse box, however, the owners' manual does not show a specific relay for this. My car cranks but will not turn over. Is the starter relay also responsible for the fuel pump?

The following link shows how voltage gets to the pump
Fuel Pump Speed Controls Add to Diagnostic Complexity You might check for voltage at the input to the driver module. Check for fuel pressure at the fuel rail by opening the bleeder valve. Fuel should spray. If not the pump isn't working. If the pump has voltage it is probably the pump. Don't know why the low fuel light is coming on with fuel in the tank. There may be some electrical problem with the fuel pump module. |
