Traction Control

As you may have noticed there is a button to put traction control on or to turn it off. I bought my car with less than 20K miles and some mods on it and the traction control button does not work. If you push the button the light stays on. I can tell that I do not have traction control.

What could have caused this, and does anyone know of a way to fix the problem?

Unless it's been deactivated by a tuner, it is on by default when you start the car. When you push the button and the light is on, T/C is off.

The problem is that the light is always on, when the car turns on the light is on. Maybe it was deactivated by a tuner.

is your abs light on in the dash? is the light on the tc button lit and wont cycle when you press it?

there are a couple of things that it could be but you need to give more info to narrow it down some

edit: read the light is always on

The abs light never came on. And yes, the light will not cycle when I hit it. The light on the button just stays on thw whole time as I press it.

it could be something as simple as a sensor on one of your wheels, or it may be that your rear end is messed up

if you have a friend with a tuner you *might* be able to have them plug it in to see if your t/c has been turned off with a tune

I do not think it is the sensor because I can tell traction control really is off, so I will see if anybody I know has a tuner and maybe that will tell me.

what im saying is that if one of the wheel sensors has gone bad it can turn t/c off and not allow you to cycle it on

well in your other post you mention that it chirps into second gear.... plus the traction control is turned off.... my car does all of this and I have a tuner. I would imagine you have the same thing.. it isn't a bad thing, but to get it off I would say you will need a new ECU or at least a re-flash to stock at a dealer

It sounds like it was turned off in a tune, especially if it shifts hard. It might be a tune for 91/93 octane so make SURE that it does not knock on 87 octane. Here is a little info on detonation so you can make sure it never happens.

did you buy the car of a private seller or a dealer?

--contact the original owner... He probably has a locked tuner around somewhere.

and btw you won't be able to tell if it has been tuned simply by plugging a tuner in

I got it from a dealer, but I ran a car facts history report and it said it was owned by one person, then repossessed and sold at auction to this dealership.

I do not know if this is related to the traction control being always off, but now my service engine light come on every almost every time the car is in the snow or rain. Are the tires throwing the computer off when they spin? It only seems to happen when it is in the rain or snow. Does anybody know what the problem could be, because I do not have the time to get it checked right now?

If your ABS sensors or computer are not working you will not have TCS or ABS and light will stay on letting you know its off.

Is your ABS light on your dash? Its a green wheel.
