Yeah, I saw. I like the H though. Mine will probably run me like $300-$400, I do need cats I guess, damn.

So, after reasoning with my father, and talking we decided it'd be so much smarter to just save up, and drop a larger engine into my car if I really want more HP.

It's a long way coming but here's my question.

Whats the largest engine that I could fit into my car? Like while keeping it street legal. Because I was told once that a 5.0 would never pass emissions if put into my car. So yeah. I'd like to go 351 or larger. Possible? Suggestions?

Whats your definition of street legal? In most cases If it didn't come in your car for that year then its not considered "street legal". So that would mean the 4.6L engine.

You can put bigger engines in, just may not be cost effective, and you may spend more money than you will making a 10second v6.

Street legal mainly meaning passing inspections, and emissions. With 113k miles on my engine already I'd probably swap it out before doing any major mods on it. Therefore I'd go bigger.

So to rephrase that question. Whats most reasonable, where could I get the most bang for my buck?

Honestly, I dont know what to say in terms of number, because I dont know what's out there. But I'll say I want as much as I can possibly cram in there (probably sticking with a small black though). The more it costs, the longer I'll have to save.

Shift kits for my car? What should I look for? And what would it bring to the table?

See, now I'm leaning more towards just building my car. Because by the time I save my money to run the full swap, I might as well invest it in a New Edge GT (which I'd prolly have enough money for as they'll depreciate over the years as I save). So why not have a fast sixxer. Then buy a GT and start over again?

That was a stupid question, it's late. Not thinking right. I couldn't do it myself, but I'm still curious about the price.

I got my duals done for $270. I had a shop fab me up an H pipe, I bought flow 40's off of ebay for $80 for the pair, and I have turn downs right before the bumper, tucked up so you can't see them (so I didn't have to buy tips). I just bout and installed Long Tubes myself, definitely worth it.

With putting in a GT engine, you will probably need a donor car as it's much more than just replacing the engine. That's a lot of money and work for the gains you get, this is if you are doing the work yourself. Spend the same money on your engine and it will beat GT's. Plus, you gain the experience.

I've alos heard/ it's been recommended to me. That I could pull a supercharger off of Ford Supercoupe, as the 3.8 engines are extraordinarily similar if not the same, true?

Nope...not for a new edge. You would have to go from splitport intake to a single port and lose about 40hp in order to add the sc.

Yeah, just wiki'd it. The supercoupe put out 210. Not worth it anyways, compare to my 193.

What would I be looking at for cost? And also, I'm sure this has been asked a million times. But what are the pro's/ con's of Turbo vs. Super?

If you are looking for temporary power that is cheap, go with nitrous. It is easy to uninstall and put on your new GT that you plan to buy down the road.... that's what I done and so far seems to have been the best decision. A supercharger/turbo will kill resale value too. Nitrous you can uninstall in an hour and the buyer won't know the difference.

I'm half tempted to leave my car be, save for a couple years and by a 5.0. That way I start off on a faster platform.

stock 5.0's aren't really much faster. They do wake up a little quicker though when you start modding.
