I have I question about a clicking noise in my engine! (HELP

I bought a 99 v6 with like 80,000 miles on it! It came with the dual exhaust set up!

any way! I HAve I clicking sound coming from the engine bay on the driver side!!!!

It clicks louder the more i push the gas!

I wanna figure what the hell it is so i dont take it to some shop and get ripped off!

My dad said it might be an exhaust leak but he not really a motor head!

I also had that problem it turned out to be an exhaust leak for me but it could be a collapsed hydraulic valve lifter do you smell exhaust in your car or when u pop the hood after its been running?

more than likely its an exhaust leak. mine does that too. after i disconnected the mid pipe it hasnt been the same. i cant get the sound to go away. im sure if you go to a muffler shop they will put on there perfect that way you have no noise. probably cost you like $30. i just turn my radio up

it could be the gasket. if it is, hope its on the driver side. alot easier to take the exhaust manifold off. if not oh well. but just take off the mid pipe and put it back on. if it still has the sound replace the gasket. when i had my muffler off. i was running just straight headers and y pipe. and then one day it got alot louder. i thought my gasket blew. i got under the car ready to change the gasket. and my y pipe was broken off at a weld lol. guy at a muffler shop welded it back on for $20. made my check engine light go off to. so i got to return my O2 sensors i bought

i was gunna say the same thing. i have a friend who has an 86 chevy ck with a 350 in it and we started hearing a ticking noise and it turned out to be a collapsed lifter. maybe your having the same problem. best bet would be take it to a shop

ok there are many problems that that can be...(as stated before) it could be an exhaust leak, a cat shield, collapsed lifter, rocker arm, push rod, or it could be a loose hanger on your exhaust

sounds like a tapping from the valve train. take off the valve cover and go over the rockers and make sure they are in ok condition and are to correct torque. if all is well, check for an exhaust leak. if it isnt one of those things, it could be internal.
