AC Issues...

So when I bought my car I noticed that the AC/ Heat wont run unless the fan knob is turned ALL the way up to full, when you turn it down just one click, it all shuts off.

Just from that I assume its a problem in the switch, what would you guys recommend for going about to getting it fixed? I mean can I just replace a switch? Or do I have to look into wires, or would I just be better off taking it to the dealership, and having them deal with it (which I REALLY DO NOT want to do..)?
