Should I look into sanding off the metalic paint before I prime and paint it? or just prime/ paint over it?

shouldnt really matter but might work better if you sand it down some.

hm I know if it was metal the aircraft stripper and etching primer, but I'm pretty sure the plastic would say bye bye. Sand it down a little or use a very light strength paint thinner like what they use for model cars and stuff, should be at any hobby shop.

Def. sand it first, I painted all my trim pieces from stock it came out great. Prep before painting is the most important step. Get everything nice and smooth, remove all the green paint, make sure there is no debris left on the pieces, try to rig them up hanging so you can do all sides, leave them to dry hanging and reinstall you're good to go. Shouldn't take more than a couple/few hours depending on how many pieces you are painting.
