Needing Some Help with the 3.9
I'm trying to set up cold air intake and exhaust on the 2004 3.9 V6, but I'm really not finding any hits. I've heard before that the 3.9 is exactly the same as the 3.8, so does this go for engine accessories, intake, etc? SummitRacing showed some Pacesetter Headers when I filtered it down to my size, but on the main page it showed 3.8. Anyone know

3.8 and 3.9 are EXACTLY the same modding wise and in almost every aspect, haha. Don't let anyone tell you any different, haha. Everything you buy for the 3.8 will fit on the 3.9.

Funny. I just got off the phone with a rep at American Muscle and he said I would need to make modifications to the CAI for it to work, and he couldn't tell me what those mods would be.

He was more than likely just a salesmen who was trying to sell you something you dont need.

as far as i know, you shouldnt have any issues with installing 3.8 BOLT-ONS on your 3.9. not sure about motor work and internals though.

i have a 3.9l also and the only thing i know that works for the 3.8's and not the 3.9's is the diablosport tuner. other than that everything works fine.

i have a 3.9 as well. the only thing different u need to do for the cai (if u get american muscles) is to but a rubber plug to fill up the extra sensor hole. it will be obvious once u start that u will need it. ive had the same questions as you rather or not to go with the 3.8 parts but as far as i can tell everthing is the same. one guy told me that ford just wanted to use up some extra windstar parts up. anyway dont worry about exhaust or cai.

Good stuff. I did order the American Muscle CAI kit. I guess I'll find a rubber plug somewhere, no big deal.
One thing that I can find anywhere is the 4.10 for the 7.5. Anyone know of a place that has them in stock? I got the email from American Muscle that they had their 4.10's back in stock, but I realized right before I hit checkout that it's for the 8.5 |

Not to sure where you can find one but if you get the 4.10 gears might as well get t-lok while you are at it and get them installed at the same time

Yeah, that's definitely the plan. The T-Lock is easy to find though. Gotta quote of $275 to get it all done with my supplied parts.
