Spring Iso question.

A. Where are they located on the spring?
B. What EXACTLY do they do?
C. Would removing the front isos give the car that "meaner" stance and drop the front a quarter of an inch or so.

The springs will be sportlines, not sure if that will make a difference on the answers.

they are located both at the top and bottom of each spring. Sometimes they are stuck at the bottom of the controll arm thats how my fronts were. I took my front isolaters off when i first put my lowering springs on and it was not worth it at all. The noise they made going over the smallest bumps was so annoying that i ended up putting them back on. It barley dropped it and it rides so much better that they are back on. They just make it so that there is no metal on metal rubbing which makes noise.

Ah, I see. Was the slight drop with the top and bottom off, or just one?

Would removing one make a noticable difference at all? What about putting a small piece of rubber between the two piece of metal as apposed to the iso itself?

well thats basically what it is. the isolater is only about 1/4 in on each side if that. i will try to a find pic of my car with them on and one with them off. I didnt think it was a big enough difference to deal with the noise it made. you probably wont even be able to tell and that was with both off. Looking back on the picture with them off it honestly seems lower now possibly because they became broken in so its not a very good comparison.

Yeah..

The iso's will eventually break in and the height will not be very noticable. I replaced my stocks with Poly one's. I think you can get away with the stock one's if it is still in good condition..

removing iso's DOES make a noticeable difference IMO. And not everyone's squeek when they do it. If you wrap the pigtails in duct tape it will stop it too.

Also, sportlines are already a very agressive drop and I don't think you will want to remove your isolators. If you do, you will be looking at some extensive mods to make the geometry work. Also, you are going to need caster camber plates with sportlines.

I'm well aware of the CC plates and everything else, just needed to know about the springs. What springs are you running?

I was just makin sure. I have the prokit. I removed all my iso's, which gives a similar drop to sportlines with iso's in. If you take iso's out you will be lowered greater than 2 inches. At the point you gotta change some stuff up and my help ends there lol because I've never ventured that far

I left my isos out and just wrapped the pigtails in duct tape and have had no squeeks at all.
