custom exhaust plan? help?!

i was discussing exhaust with a good friend of mine the other day. Here's what we came up with. all the custom work would be done by a local exhaust shop.

MAC Shorty Headers

2 and 1/4 Custom pipes going down from headers into an X pipe
right off the X pipe some 17 inch long 1 and 3/4 i think thrust glass packs (for sound and backpressure or something) heading into some more 2 and 1/4 piping finally ending into a 2.5 inch muffler.

A) how would this sound (with any muffler)

B) I was told that if i ran anything larger than 2 and 1/4 it'd just sound riced out and wouldnt have any back pressure.

comments dearly needed. (especially bout sound)
and definately muffler suggestions.

You aren't going to pass inspection with glass packs, those are for drag cars, believe me, i have 2 of them.

... the 2.25 is the correct size for your engine and horse power... to me that sounds like a lot of work... im pretty sure the make X pipes for shorty headers...

but other then that it sounds good

get hi-flow cats not glass packs, muffler go with Flows super 40's IMO. You have the right pipe diameter as onemanzu said

should sound nice if it is done right I would personally go with an H pipe if they are doing your custom.
