parts for home made RAM AIR(What do i need)

Hey Back again and i need a list. For those who can offer some help...please give me a detailed list of what i need to buy to make a ram air for a v6 2004 stang, i want to mount it in the bumper. It doesnt have to be pretty just affective. and can i get the stuff at wal-mart, home-depot, or meeks. And how would i attach it to my intake(And if anyone has a way that i can inprove what i have without buying aftermarket CAI?)I also understand that there is a post similar to this one but it is of no help.

... i am not so sure on how you are thinking to do this... but for the previous RAM air discussion that i participated in a few days ago... i found a device that AEM makes that reduces/eliminates the amount of water that can enter the engine... it cost 45 bucks tho... if interested PM me ... ill find more

for your question... you should be able to get dry hose... like 5 inch and route it through the fender in front of the well and then connect it to the old intake part that went into the engine bay... that you took out...

an ebay CAI might be an investment you might wanna look into ontop of this prject you are looking at

thats smart... the only thing is ... with the stock exhaust the air has a slight amount of turbulence... but allrighty... its not noticible so don't sweat it...

uhh if you can find anything on your idea for the RAM system... shoot them our way we have been debating em for ever on here

good luck dude

I built mine using 4" drainage pipe, rubber pipe couplings, and a filter housing I fabbed out of a water pitcher. But you have to experiment with baffling. If the air creates too much turbulance close the MAF, you'll get erratic engine responses. I've got some pics of my old design on the second page of my car domain.

i installed a 7 or 8 inch cai/ram thing on my stang. its a dryer hose that runs to the passenger side bumber hole wer the fog light delete used to be. i unscrewed it, and put in the hose and then ran it directly through to the stock intake and fastened it over the rubber. it works great. the bends are very fine in the hose too so it doesnt create much tubulence at all.

yeah. Go to lowes or home depot any of those they sell these scoops that would work perfect then get some 5" dryer hose and connect. I am going to that set up. Personally I would go ahead and get the fenderwell CAI though or get your filter in the fenderwell because the set up you have now there will be two very close sharp turns in the dryer hose that will be very restrictive.

i like that pitcher idea... i think that you might be able to plut something like that in the fenderwell... and then have the dry hose connect to that.... ima look into doing that when i get my CAI

hey yes i know its a bad setup but havent u heard the saying "anything is better that stock" it has a better air flow. It my not be cold, but im fixing that. http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/coldair.htm Im taking this design a little futher....im adding another elbow and sleeve which will put my filter inside the low part of the quarter panle. not so low that it will get wet though. Then im going to mod the tire well just enough to catch air but not rub the tire in any way. this is what i have http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...2/100_1896.jpg
I know its not chrome and smooth or pretty, but some pant and clearcoat it might actuallybe usefull
