Cut Off Muffler


ok i have a V6 1995 Mustang coupe and i was wondering if i took my muffler off and put a straight pipe on instead. Would it make it any Louder? Any one have any sound clips?

hell yeah it would make it loud....but it wouldn't sound the way you want it to. You'd also lose a lot of back pressure

i had just disconnected my muffler from my y pipe and hung up both pipes so they didnt drag and it was real loud. if you plan on getting aftermarket exhaust. punch a few holes in your muffler and see how that sounds.

lol it's really loud and shakes everythign in your car around 2000rpm;s lol it's kinda fun though but like any v6 in high rpms like 3700+ it's ricey sounding

lol ya it does make everything kind of shake rattle and roll. but its cool. and exhaust gases got in my cabin like nobodies business. and id have to shift at like 1800 around cops lol.

I was just going to touch base with the whole cops thing. If your car's overly loud, you will get a ticket for not having a muffler. Be careful.

Yeah I would imagine it wouldnt sound good at all other than at idle or very low RPM's...when I just had LT's and a catless H it was a monster at idle...giving it gas made it sound like crap though...really loud crap. The V6's need some sound management

if your not gonna do it yourself.. then why even bother.. youll lose power, itll sound like shit and you wont like it at all. if your really gonna have someone put pipes on your car get some mufflers.. be smart >.<
